Storyboarding

This video is a good example of how much effort it takes to create a quality storyboard. Over the years I have taken multiple video classes and in these classes I have created countless numbers of storyboards. Creating a storyboard has always been one of my least favorite parts of the video making experience, however, it is an extremely important part of creating a film. In this video clip they show you what its like to create a storyboard for a hollywood film; but is it necessary to create a storyboard for a skate video, snowboard video, or ski video? I believe it is, obviously the creator wouldn't go through and write out each specific shot but they would go through and plan out how the movie would work together. For example, In skate videos the best skaters usually receive the first and last part in the video. So that must be planned. A super basic storyboard for a skate video would look something like this:

Intro
First part intro
First part
Second part intro
Second Part
Third part intro
Third part
friends section
Fourth part intro
Fourth part
Final part intro
Final part
Credits
Bonus features

Once again this is an extremely basic storyboard, however, no matter how basic, it is still a storyboard. Therefore, a storyboard doesn't have to be like the one scene in the video above. It can be a basic sketch of the contents of a movie.

This was a very good video for showing how very complex projects such as a feature length animated film or a project that is heavy with visual effects relies on the storyboarding process.
